The Challenge
Work Directions is one of the fastest growing international providers of integrated human services, priding itself on its commitment to helping people find sustainable employment through its delivery of the government's welfare-to-work programs.
The challenge for Work Directions was to provide staff with the necessary skills to effect fundamental change within their clients, by enabling them to more effectively build rapport and trust with their clients, demonstrate clear and effective communication within their clients, and within their team and challenge their clients to tackle the root cause of their issues (go deeper into the real issues).
Furthermore, any developmental programs should cultivate team morale, and greater loyalty to the Work Directions vision, through the group development of new skills.
The program would be piloted in the Nottingham office, before potentially being rolled out to the other Work Directions' offices across the UK.
The Solution
To develop a program that achieved Work Directions' objectives, an initial analysis workshop was held for all the staff to develop a concise understanding of the challenges facing the advisors, to demonstrate the coaching style approach the facilitators would adopt in their development program, and to overview the proposed program content.
The program itself ran in "bite-sized" sections, conducted over an eight-week period, entitled the Change Management Coaching College or CMCC, and included training modules in Self Confidence, Interpersonal Skills, Stress Control, Communicating and Listening, Attitude Control, Enthusiasm and Self Motivation, Motivating Others, Leadership and Team-Work.

What they said..
"I just thought I would drop you a quick note to thank you for your input, help and support over the last few months.
As you know, we here at Work Directions UK are committed to helping each and every individual that accesses our programme to make a real and sustained difference to their lives.
The programme you created and delivered for our advisors has not only helped them to achieve this goal and their personal objectives and targets, but it has also helped to build a cohesive and genuine team spirit that has had a real and lasting effect on the effectiveness of the operation here."
I know that you will be delivering a similar programme across other Work Directions UK sites later in the year and I am confident that you will have equally as great an impact on their operations as you did here.
Thanks again, and I look forward to working with you again in the future. "
