On Tuesday, I was very pleased to be invited as one of the keynote speakers at SourceIn, LinkedIn's first event dedicated to EMEA's dynamic search and staffing sector, alongside some of the biggest names in recruiting.
It was an extremely successful and busy event (standing room only by the end), opened with a very dramatic and beautiful laser light show violin performance – which set the tone for what was to be a dynamic recruitment industry event.
From my point of view, as a strategic consultant to the industry, events like these provide me with the opportunity to listen to and challenge some of the current trends and future opportunities across the recruitment sector.
My key note speak, entitled LinkedIn for Business Development, focused on transforming traditional sales approaches of creating new business opportunities to the active enablement of customer decision making processes - enabling customers to be able to make buying decisions for themselves at the time when they want and need to buy, not when we dictate.
I also unveiled details of our unique "Channel Acquisition Maps" to add some science to the sales process and aligning your sales proposition and brand to customers' "pain points".
The overall event was excellent, rounded off with a hilarious and yet very poignant talk from Dr Steve Peters, a Consultant Psychiatrist who works with GB Cycling Team and other sporting success stories, who brought his perspective on the human mind and emphasising emotional management leading to optimising performance, using the analogy of chimps!
To conclude, one of the most exciting themes that came from the event is how positive the recruitment industry is right now and the opportunities that are now arising for agencies. As such, we have been actively working with recruitment organisations to enable them to understand how to exercise the potential that now exists within the markets and prepare themselves for growth.
