    Employee engagement doesn’t have to cost, in fact often the things you do that have the most impact have little cost attached to them.

    Here are a few top tips on maximising employee engagement;

    • Respect and recognition. This is the most important element to keep employees engaged and the best part, it is free. Celebrate success and go out of your way to thank people for their contribution, this will go along way in giving your employees that feel good factor. You could go further with this by implementing an employee awards scheme across your business, with employees voting on the most valuable team member etc. again this needn’t cost much but will really boost the morale of your workforce.
    • Involvement. Involve your employees in innovation and business improvement; this can bring benefits for several reasons. Firstly encouraging ideas and contributions from employees will make them feel like they are making a difference and that their contributions will attribute to the overall business success, in turn making them feel like an integral part of the business. Secondly encouraging ideas and contributions can often generate an idea that can really make a difference to your business operations, utilising the talent you hired in ways you didn’t originally intend can bring a mix of points of view to product development, customer service etc.
    • Learning and development. During a recession training is often cut from budgets; however training doesn’t have to be hugely costly. Using internal resources and embracing online solutions which can be delivered at little cost but still deliver the results can be hugely beneficial. This will not only develop your workforce and thus enable them to work more efficiently creating results within the business; it will also demonstrate a commitment from the company to your employees in developing and investing in them as individuals.

    Implementing the above tips into your organisation will build a relationship with your employees, maximising their engagement and generate loyalty.
