At the inaugural National Training Awards South East Regional Final on Tuesday night, Innergy, in partnership with the REC (the Recruitment and Employment Confederation) was awarded the South East Training Award, Providers of Education and Training for the design, development and delivery of their Extraordinary Leadership Program (ELP). Recognised as the most prestigious training awards in the UK, The National Training Awards are now in their 21st year and have been restyled for 2008 to more fully reflect the needs of today´s economy and society, and to provide equal opportunity for all organisations and individuals across every sector.
The National Training Awards celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals that achieve outstanding success through training and development. They are run by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and are sponsored by City & Guilds. They are supported by Investors in People.
Olympic athlete, Colin Jackson, congratulated all the winners, saying: "I am delighted to take part again in the National Training Awards ceremony in South East and present the winners with their trophies. This years recipients have set the benchmark high and have proven that in todays competitive market, high quality training is an integral part of both personal and business development."
Chair of the South East judging panel, Kathryn Cook, congratulated the winners. She said: "The South East winners clearly represent the benefits of better skills and training. They've proven that training can change a companys performance and that it is an essential ingredient for success."
Simon Bartley, UK Skills Chief Executive, said: "Its exciting to see such a broad range of examples of both personal and organisational investment in training. Each winner has a wonderful story to tell of the benefits that their training has brought, from increased productivity to improved customer satisfaction to changed lives.
"The winners demonstrate that training is an investment not a cost and that it can transform companies, careers and communities. I congratulate them all on what they have achieved."
Skills Minister David Lammy said: "The National Training Awards foster a culture of learning, celebrate skills development, and make a real difference to the performance of companies and individuals the length and breadth of the country by challenging them to invest in their own development and future. The winners demonstrate the dynamic range of training taking place across the UK and the benefits of achieving excellence, and I congratulate them."
